Ex Tigers Pitcher Roberts Dies

He was 64., Early Friday. It is said that he developed lung cancer from exposure to asbestos as a young man. Roberts wife Carol and stepson Kristy Rogan said he died at his home in Short Gap, W. Va. During the off-season, he worked as a boilermaker and was regularly exposed to materials that cause cancer. Dave Roberts, a left-handed pitcher who has played for eight major teams including the League Detroit Tiger and the World Series champion Pittsburgh Pirates in 1979, died of lung cancer.
